Yummy Food!

We decided to give Carissa solids by a method called baby led weaning.  Instead of giving her pureed foods, we just gave her food like we would eat it, starting with things that are very mushy and that she can mash up in her mouth.  At first she would hardly get any food in her mouth at all.  When she did, she would gag and spit it out most of the time.  After a few weeks, she got the hang of it and will now take bites, mash them up with her gums (no teeth yet!) and swallow.  It is evident that she is actually eating some of it by her diapers.  :)  So far she has tried avocado, banana, sweet potato, and pear.  The only one she doesn't seem too fond of is pear.

Long Overdue Update

We have been busy!  It's been hard to keep this updated lately and there is lots to tell since the last time I posted, so I will try to sum it up.  Here's the scoop:

  • At the end of January I went back to work part time.  I am working Thursdays, Fridays and every other Wednesday.  It was a difficult transition at first, but is getting easier.  Thank goodness I did not have to go back full time!  While I am at work, my good friend Lindsey, who had Jack about three weeks after Carissa was born, watches Carissa.  It is so nice to know that someone we love and trust is watching our little girl while we are at work.
  • Carissa's accomplishments in the past two months include: sitting up, eating solids, and army crawling!  She can get up on her knees and wants to do a real crawl, but can't quite figure out how to coordinate all her limbs yet.  We've started baby proofing the house and she is keeping us on our toes.
Below are her 5 and 6 month pictures.  She is now 7 months.  I will post some updated pictures soon!!
